Level meter completed
I’ve been working on a sound level meter recently, so that you can tell that audio is connected and working, without having to look at system preferences.

Also included is much better console logging. I hope you never need it, but if something does go wrong and you need to ask for help, then at least you’ll have more information to post to the forum.

Just doing more testing on the app (to make sure I’ve not broken anything else) before release.

Hard at work, fixing audio issues
I’ve found and fixed a bug relating to starting iShowU on a system with no audio input installed. The next release (not yet up on the site) will contain this fix.

I’m currently attempting to add a level meter to the audio, so that it’s plainly obvious if the input volume has been set to zero. Almost there. Once I’ve done this, I’ll be posting a release with the above bug fix.

Open GL issue found
Thanks to a few people on the Mac OpenGL mailing list, I may have a fix for the Intel “blue tint” issue. This fix is included in 1.0b (currently “stable&rdquoWinking.

There’s also a 1.0c - which has modified capture code (again, as a result of the helpful people on the list), which may improve performance for some people.

Sprites - You'd think it'd be easy
Sprites. Quicktime.

All I want to do is show the cursor movement in another track (sitting on top of the video track), so that even if the user chooses to capture at 0.1 frames per second, they still get a liquid mouse. This will really improve the way the video plays back.

But in quicktime? It’s a nightmare! It’s taken me many, many hours just to get the existing sprite in place. It’s not yet done, but progress is being made. All I need to do now is get rid of the black square around the cursor.

Updating UI
The ‘Edit Recording Area’ now gives some feedback as to what is expected from the user. Quite a bit nicer if you’ve not already figured out how to setup the capture area.
